International Translation Day

Every year, September 30 is International Translation Day.

On Monday, September 30, applicants for higher education and scientific and pedagogical workers of the Oriental Philology and Translation Studies Department gathered offline in the city of Poltava to celebrate International Translation Day.

Representatives of the oldest profession had their holiday only in 1991. He was proclaimed by members of the International Federation of Translators on the day of the death of St. Jerome, who translated the Bible into Latin, and is considered the patron saint of translators.

This year, all those present had the opportunity to present their skills in translation, as well as compete for gifts.

The program of the event included presentations of applicants for the 3rd year on the topic “Modern Ukrainian translators,” the game “Find a fake,” discussion of the current topic “Challenges of translation from/into Ukrainian-English” and 汉字-page.

At the end of the event, the participants tasted delicious coffee and talked in a warm atmosphere.

Congratulations to all involved in the holiday and wish you fruitful work.
