Meeting of the Youth Club of Oriental Cultures
30.9.2024
The Oriental Culture Youth Club held its first meeting of the new academic year.
The topic of the meeting was traditional Chinese holidays, which was chosen on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival in China (秋节). The participants welcomed the new members of the club – freshmen, students of the educational programmes ‘Language and Literature (Chinese, English)’ and ‘Language and Literature (Japanese, English)’.
At the meeting, the participants discussed a wide range of topics related to Chinese culture. During the meeting, the participants presented their reports and shared their impressions of the traditions and customs of the Chinese during the celebration. Thus, Zlata Ostapenko, a first-year student, spoke about the peculiarities of the 秋节 celebration. Anastasiia Sukhina, a third-year student, added information about the traditions and history of this holiday, and also introduced the traditional Chinese Lantern Festival (灯节). Sofia Nedohybchenko, a second-year student, spoke about the analogue of the Chinese holiday 秋节 in Korea. All reports were accompanied by colourful presentations and videos.
The presentations were followed by a discussion, during which everyone had the opportunity to share their impressions and information about traditional holiday dishes, including moon cakes (月饼), and the peculiarities of the celebration in China.
We invite everyone to join our friendly Orientalist family and invite you to the next meeting of the club in October, which will be dedicated to traditional Japanese holidays.
