Participation in the 11th Congress of the All-Ukrainian Environmental League

Representatives of the Educational and Research Institute of Natural and Agrarian Sciences took part in the work of the 11th Congress of the All-Ukrainian Environmental League, which took place in the historical place – the village of Vyhraiv, Cherkasy region.
The All-Ukrainian Environmental League (AEL) is a public organization, the purpose of which is to improve the environmental situation in the country, and to form a new environmental protection mentality.
The All-Ukrainian Ecological League promotes the integration of the ecological component into all sectors of social life and economy, lobbies for the introduction of European standards and principles of balanced development. For 27 years, its head, Tetyana TYMOCHKO, has been uniting scientists, educators, ecologists, government and business representatives and simply not indifferent citizens of Ukraine to protect the environment. The staff of AEL are the heads of regional organizations and centers, activists in big cities and the most remote villages – people devoted to the cause of environmental protection. No one seeks material advantages and positions from belonging to the ranks of the League. Public initiative, spirit of sincere friendship and support, responsibility for one’s position – this is a unique distinction of AEL.
Delegates and participants of the congress discussed ways to solve environmental problems caused by Russian military aggression, the principles of the formation of environmental protection legislation in Ukraine in accordance with European standards, the situation with PZF objects, including newly created ones, and problems of waste management.
During the event, strategic tasks of AEL for the period of martial law were defined, in particular:
– the importance of supporting and promoting the European integration of Ukraine in the field of environmental protection;
– lobbying for strengthening the environmental component in industry policies, introducing changes to existing environmental legislation in the context of martial law and military operations on the territory of Ukraine;
– cooperation with state authorities and local self-government bodies regarding the recording of damage to the environment as a result of Russian armed aggression.
– informing the population about environmental problems and the impact of military operations on natural ecosystems;
– holding events in support of the Armed Forces, providing assistance to family members of servicemen and veterans, IDPs;
– implementation of the AEL program “Psychological support in nature for children affected by war”.
Awarding activists with certificates was a pleasant part of the event. Heads of regional centers, representatives of scientific councils, and activists were honored. The Luhansk branch was among those awarded – Nataliia MATSAI, member of the AEL board, head of the Luhansk branch of AEL, and Halyna Yevtushenko, head of the scientific council of the Luhansk branch of AEL, were awarded.
Nataliia MATSAI, in turn, handed over from the rector of the university Olena KARAMAN the university talisman – a commemorative plaque of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University with a portrait of Taras SHEVCHENKO. Also, a small commemorative flag of Luhansk naturalists, which was made during the university’s stay in Starobilsk, was handed over to AEL.
The work took place in the Information and Educational Center “Ecological Watch” in Cherkasy region. According to the program of the event, an excursion to the Local History Museum of the village was planned. Vyhraiv, an excursion along the Ecological Trail and an excursion to the historical monument of the city of Korsun.
