Teachers and students of the Institute of Arts visited the screening of the documentary film “Solovetski prisoners from Ukraine. Les Kurbas, Mykola Kulish”.
On September 10, in honor of Ukrainian Cinema Day and the birthday of Ukrainian director Oleksandr Dovzhenko, teachers and students of the Educational and Research Institute of Arts attended the screening of the documentary film “Solovetski Prisoners from Ukraine. Les Kurbas, Mykola Kulish” (2017) in the Poltava Art Museum, Mykola Yaroshenko Art Gallery. The visit to the event was organized by the advisor of the “Audiovisual Art and Production” specialty Anatolii Mishin.
Before the screening, a representative of the Poltava Art Gallery named after Mykola Yaroshenko and the crew of this film, which consists of Nataliia Ivanchenko (director-director, screenwriter), Dmytro Starykov and Maksym Starykov (cameramen-directors) gave a welcoming speech. Also present during the event was Olha Cherniavska, a teacher of the Department of Audiovisual Arts of the Educational and Research Institute of Arts, whose voice became the behind-the-scenes accompaniment to the film.
During the screening of the documentary, visitors learned more about the artists of the “shot revival”. This picture is the second part in the series of films “Solovetski Prisoners from Ukraine”.
The tape tells the story of the theater producers of the 1920s and 1930s who were repressed by the Soviet authorities, namely director-playwright Les Kurbas and screenwriter Mykola Kulish of the Berezil Theater. The film touched on the themes of the artists’ personalities, their views and opinions, for which they were arrested and later executed.
After the screening, the audience had the opportunity to chat with the film crew, ask questions and discuss the film itself.
