Meeting of the Academic Council

On August 30, the first meeting of the Academic Council of the university in the new academic year was held remotely.

The following issues were on the agenda:

• about the approval of the academic council’s work plan for 2024-2025;
• about the beginning of the new 2024-2025 academic year;
• about personnel issues;
• miscellaneous.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of the Academic Council Vitalii Kurylo announced the awarding of university teachers. The head of the Department of Musical Art and Choreography Iryna Tsebrii, head of the Department of Olympic and Professional Sports Tetiana Poluliaschenko, Assistant Professor of the Department of Journalism Olena Kravchenko and teacher of the Department of Audiovisual Art Anatolii Mishin got diplomas from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. 

Svitlana Vovk, head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, was awarded the badge of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine “Excellent in Education”.

During the discussion of the first issue, the Head of the Academic Council of the University, Vitalii Kurylo, introduced the work plan of the academic council for 2024-2025 to those present, which  was approved by open vote after discussion. 

The Rector of the University Olena Karaman spoke about the beginning of the new 2024-2025 academic year. During her speech, Olena Leonidivna singled out the normative documents governed by the administration of the Higher Education Institution and characterized the measures to prepare the university for the new academic year – creating a safe educational environment together with the owners of rented premises for the educational process, determining the dates of the start of studies (first (bachelor) and II year of the second (master’s) level from 02.09.2024, and the first course of the second (master’s) and third (PhD) levels from 01.10.2024), approval of the formats of the educational process (full-time – mixed (full-time-distance), extramural – remote).

In order to ensure a successful educational process at the university, priority areas of activity have been defined: intake of students, improvement of the quality of personnel, ensuring the quality of education, development of research and innovation activities, activation of international activities and the process of internationalization of university education, modernization of the content and technologies of social and humanitarian work, the creation of effective student self-government, the development of the material and technical base, social infrastructure and a safe educational environment for all participants in the educational process, as well as the improvement of the financial and economic activities of the university. The tasks of the university’s activities within these areas, aimed at preserving and developing the university in the conditions of martial law and post-war reconstruction, have been formulated.

Thirdly, the personnel issue was considered. Rector Olena Karaman presented the candidate for the position of Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work – Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations Svitlana Vovk. After a discussion with the participation of Ilia Kononov, Anton Bader, Leonid Vakhovskyi, Volodymyr Zablotskyi and Vitalii Kurylo, the academic council approved the candidacy of Svitlana Vovk for the position of Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work.

Among miscellaneous, the issue of making changes to the curricula for 2024-2025, violation of the petition regarding the recognition of university teachers, the granting of academic leave, and the recommendation for the publication of scientific and educational-methodological works were considered. 

At the end of the meeting, the head of the Academic Council, Vitalii Kurylo, and the Rector, Olena Karaman, congratulated those present on the start of the new academic year, wished them fruitful work, and invited them to join the celebrations planned for the next week.
