Final Day of the International Conference in Warsaw
17.7.2024
From July 12 to 15, university representatives Olha Korinska and Kateryna Bilobrovska took part in the international conference “Challenges of the Modern Economy – Research of Young Scientists”.
The International Conference was organized by SGH, the Warsaw School of Economics, which took place in the heart of the city of Warsaw, Republic of Poland.
The last day started with a plenary session, at which Prof. Nick DESCHACHT, PhD, gave a report “Gender Differences in Careers: Working Times and Greedy Jobs”. The last day was also marked by a speech by our postgraduate student and teacher Kateryna BILOBROVSKA.
Kateryna Oleksandrivna gave a report: “Verbalization of the concept of “war” in the B. Antonenko-Davydovych’s works: interpretation through the prism of the present. She highlighted the key aspects of the concept of “war” and its semantic markers through the quintessence of the consciousness of the Ukrainian writer B. Antonenko-Davydovych.
This concept has a negative meaning. It is outlined as a consequence of the revolution; chaos; misunderstanding in the family and society; death, destruction; injury, mutilation; mental wounds and psychological injuries; wanderings and challenges of fate. The concept of “war” is one of the key cross-cultural concepts.
The problem of making sense of and understanding war was and remains relevant for humanity, because it accompanies it throughout its existence. The interpretation of this concept varies between countries, nations, researchers, writers, etc. What is common is that all wars are understood as bringing with them horror, despair, exhaustion, pain, loss, destruction, death, etc.
In the minds of the Ukrainian people, the concept of war was actualized in 2014 and has become commonplace today. As we can see, total militarization of society has taken place. The war filled the information space, became a top topic not only of reports, but also of artistic and cultural discourse, the work of photo and video artists. This testifies to the key status of the concept of “war”. It is impossible to quickly de-actualize this concept, because for most people it is a forced reality associated with loss, imbalance, apathy, and death.
Kateryna Bilobrovska once again updated the attention of the European community on the necessity of prevention and the urgent need to stop the war.
We express our gratitude to our alma mater for supporting participation in foreign and international activities and to our Polish colleagues for inviting and organizing an international conference for young scientists, the opportunity to be heard and receive feedback from leading scientists from Poland, Sweden, and Great Britain.
