Summer School. Day 3

On July 10, the third day of the SGH Summer School on contemporary challenges in politics, business and economy ended in the city of Warsaw.

We will recall the composition of the delegation:

– Olha Korinska, teacher of the Department of Oriental Philology and Translation, head of the Council of Young Scientists and Students;

– Kateryna Bilobrovska, teacher of the Department of Romano-Germanic Philology;

– Viktoria Medvedska, associate professor of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, member of the Council of Young Scientists and Students.

The third day began with a lecture by Professor Daniel Beland from the University of Canada, “Social Policy Responses to Global Emergencies”, which was extremely interesting and informative, and after a coffee break, he also held a workshop on methods: a policy feedback approach.

In the afternoon, Professor Elias Tsakas, Associate Professor of the Department of Microeconomics and Social Economy (MPE) and Doctoral Director of the Graduate School of Business and Economics (GSBE) of Maastricht University, took the place of speaker. He is an assistant editor of the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization and a coordinating editor of Theory and Decision. His research expertise is in game theory, decision theory, and behavioral economics, and current research focuses on the relationship between beliefs, information, and behavior (e.g., how to measure beliefs, how beliefs are influenced by information, how beliefs influence behavior, etc.). Professor Elias Tsakas is also working on interesting applications in political science and sports. In the past, the professor has also worked on cooperation, risk preferences, epistemic game theory, and evolutionary game theory, and occasionally on interesting mathematical problems in other areas.

For the students of the SGH Summer School, Elias Tsakas gave lectures on the topics: “How important are expectations and how to measure them?” and “Why are expectations important and how can they be measured?”.

The representatives of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University had good communication with the lecturers, gained new knowledge and had the opportunity to discuss the most pressing issues of today.
