Participation of Our Mediators in the Live Broadcasting

The scientific and methodical center “School of Mediation” functions in the context of which the “Service of Understanding” works at the Social Pedagogy Department, LTSNU. 

Here mediators from among academic staff and students work to prevent and resolve conflicts peacefully.

On June 27, a student majoring in 231, Alona Kuznetsova, was invited to a live broadcast on the topic: “Conflict and the Activities of the Understanding Service”. 

The goal was to provide an opportunity for all viewers to learn more about conflict, mediation, conciliation services, and gain valuable guidance on conflict resolution in an educational setting.

The mediator revealed the following issues:

The main functions of the Understanding Service;
How the Understanding Service affects the general climate of the educational institution and how it can prevent conflicts before they arise.
What types of conflicts do I encounter most often in an educational environment, and how are they best resolved.
How methods of resolving conflict situations differ depending on the age and social status of the participants.
Necessary skills and techniques that a mediator should use to effectively resolve conflicts.
What challenges and problems do mediators of the Understanding Service face?
The hour of broadcasting was productive and instructive. Alona shared not only her own experience, but also the experience of our university in resolving conflict situations, which is based on the principles of peacebuilding, practices of a restorative approach, and the principle of solidarity and “Equal to Equal”.
