Participation of Teachers and Students of the Department of Romance & Germanic Philology in the Oxford Reading Club.
On 15 May 2024, teachers and applicants of the 1st-4th year students of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology (ERF) attended a webinar dedicated to the presentation of the Oxford Reading Club, a digital library designed specifically for those who learn and teach English.
The webinar has become a valuable resource for students seeking to improve their teaching skills and knowledge. The presenters shared practical tips on using the Oxford Reading Club in teaching, which will help future teachers make their lessons more exciting and compelling. During the webinar, the applicants learned how ORC helps not only to improve reading but also to increase general language competence.
In particular, the students learned:
1) How to create interactive lessons using Oxford Reading Club content.
2) How to use Oxford Reading Club to assess students’ progress.
3) How to access resources for English language teachers from Oxford Reading Club.
The webinar also allowed the students to ask questions to experienced English teachers. This helped them get valuable advice and clarification on using the Oxford Reading Club in their future teaching practice.
The Oxford Reading Club webinar was a practical and valuable experience for future English teachers. It equipped them with the skills and knowledge they need to become successful teachers, making their investment of time and effort in the webinar feel worthwhile.
