Professional Interview for “Khmarochos” Publication
9.5.2024
Recently, Candidate of Sociological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology, guarantor of the “Sociology” educational program, Kateryna Kotelenets gave an interview to the NGO “Khmarachos”.
Kateryna commented on the field research phase of the project “Formation of the Conceptual and Legal Foundations of the Institutional Restoration of Donbas”. It was important for the journalist to learn about obstacles during the research, to get comments on some conclusions and communication with military administrations. In the interview, they discussed the prospects for the liberation of Donetsk and Luhansk, questions about the personnel reserve and the organization of the authorities. According to Kateryna, this is not only about the administrative personnel, but also about organizations that take care of supporting local democracy. She noted that it is cooperation between communities and the authorities.
Kateryna Kotelenets also noted that tools of local democracy, such as electronic petitions and public hearings, do not actually work in displaced communities, but consultative and advisory bodies and citizens’ appeals are very actively used.
Recently, based on the results of the interview, an article was published with Kateryna’s comments: “Let’s imagine that Donetsk and Luhansk are liberated. Who will work there in the authorities?”
