International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day
26.4.2024
April 26, 2024 marks the 38th anniversary of the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which became the largest nuclear disaster in history.
The accident claimed the lives of thousands of people and caused irreparable damage to Europe’s ecology. Since then, on this date, every year in Ukraine honors all the people who died or suffered from this disaster, and also honors the liquidators of the consequences of the accident.
The Educational and Research Institute of Business and Management joined the event, which took place in the Children’s and Youth Library of the Myrhorod City Council.
The participants of the event learned a lot of new information about the first hours after the explosion and the silence of the Soviet authorities, about the selfless work of the liquidators of the accident, about the construction of the sarcophagus, as well as the consequences of that terrible accident, which are still felt by both nature and people.
We remember the Chernobyl disaster, we thank everyone who showed sacrifice and courage in fulfilling their professional and civic duty – the staff of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, firefighters, military personnel, scientists, and doctors who participated in the elimination of the consequences of this accident.
We thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine for protecting the Ukrainian land from the occupier!
