International Children’s Book Day
3.4.2024
On April 2, 2024, an online meeting dedicated to the International Children’s Book Day was held with representatives of the Lubny City Library for Children.
The Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology became the co-organizer of the event for the International Children’s Book Day. The meeting was attended by the head of the library Liudmyla Mykolaivna Shovkoplias and the librarian Halyna Yuriivna Kravchuk, students, directors and deputies, teachers of various structural divisions of the university.
The event was opened by the deputy director for social and humanitarian work of the ER IPP, who reminded that the holiday is celebrated on the initiative and by decision of the International Council of Children’s Books. She drew attention to the fact that the works of Taras and Mariana Prokhasko, Sashko Dermanskyi, Nataliia Chub, Andrii Kokotyukha, Emma Andievska, Ivan Andrusiak, Lesia Voronina, Halyna Pagutiak, and others are currently popular.
Liudmyla Mykolaivna told the audience that in 1947, the first children’s book collection was opened in Lubny. Today, the library collects, stores and publishes books, magazines, provides access to information from the Internet, delights children with fun holidays and interesting meetings with writers, artists, and actors. The Lubny city library for children is designed to meet the reading and information needs of children aged 2 to 15 years. High school students, teachers, educators, parents and grandparents visit it.
Halyna Kravchuk advertised books that are in demand among young readers. She named literary texts that are quickly disappearing from bookshelves, recommended books of various genres on current topics. She noted that modern editions are incredibly illustrated, and therefore children want not just to read a good text, but also to enjoy the design of the book.
Students and teachers were interested in the following questions: What is the most expensive book in the library? What age category of children visits the library the most? How many books are in the library? Are modern children interested in the works of the classics? etc.
The meeting took place in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
Thank you for the fruitful communication of the library administration!
