The guidance conference on the organization and passing of customs brokerage practice
On March 29, 2024, scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Commodity Research and Commercial Entrepreneurship conducted a briefing on the peculiarities of customs brokerage practice for the 4th year students of the educational program “Commodity Research and Expertise in Customs Affairs”.
Ukraine’s active participation in integration processes and the liberalization of foreign trade have significantly increased the number of exporters and importers who need customs clearance services. Activities related to customs clearance are performed by persons authorized to declare (declarants or customs brokers). In order to perfectly fulfill the role of mediators between subjects of foreign economic activity and customs, customs brokers must know the specifics of their business perfectly and constantly improve their knowledge, taking into account the requirements of today.
Customs brokerage practice is an important component of the educational process for training highly qualified specialists aimed at consolidating and deepening theoretical training and obtaining practical skills and competencies in the field of professional activity in specialty 076 “Entrepreneurship and Trade”, field of knowledge 07 “Management and Administration”.
The main task of the internship is to get acquainted with the peculiarities of movement of certain types of goods and other items across the customs border of Ukraine, analysis of current legislation and preparation of documents necessary for declaration and customs clearance of goods. During the customs brokerage practice, it is necessary to learn to apply the acquired knowledge in solving practical situations that arise during the declaration of goods.
The day before, students received the Instruction on occupational health and safety during customs brokerage practice for students majoring in entrepreneurship and trade of the Educational and Research Institute of Technology and Trade.
During the meeting, the students received an initial briefing on occupational health and safety, found out the specifics of the internship and received clarification on individual tasks. Applicants had the opportunity to find out important issues related to the preparation of reports and the features of their defense.
