The Educational and Research Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies took part in the GPU Technology Conference 2024 (GTC AI 2024).
Students and teachers of the Department of Information Technologies and Systems, Educational and Researh Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies, participated online in a significant event – the GPU Technology Conference 2024 (GTC AI 2024) under the auspices of Nvidia Corp., which is dedicated to generative artificial intelligence and took place from March 17 to 21 (https://www.nvidia.com/gtc/).
The key event of this conference was the speech of the head of Nvidia Jensen Huang, who spoke about the role of artificial intelligence in the modern world, shared the achievements of AI that shape our future, and presented the new Blackwell chip architecture.
Also, students and teachers were able to visit online some reports within the framework of this conference, namely:
- Bringing Advanced AI and Navigation into Smart Glasses that Empower the Blind (Cornel Amareie, CEO, Dotlumen SRL), where the advanced AI and navigation technologies, which can be used to create wearables that help blind people, were considered.
- Customizing Foundation Large Language Models in Diverse Languages With NVIDIA NeMo (Meriem Bendris, Senior Deep Learning Data Scientist, NVIDIA and etc.). The authors focused on the customization of LLMs for languages other than English and discussed techniques that allow LLMs to adapt to a variety of use cases.
- Beyond Borders: Strategies for Startup Success in Central & Eastern Europe (Marcin Laczynski, Advisor, Vestbee and etc.). The report was devoted to the creation of successful startups with artificial intelligence, problems that can arise during scaling, and more.
At the end of the conference, within the department, there was an active discussion of the obtained results and analysis of the possibilities of their application in the disciplines related to the topic of the conference.
