The participation of students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University in the All-Ukrainian Educational and Practical Seminar “The role of youth in the peaceful resolution of conflicts with the help of mediation and restorative practices”.

On March 17-20, students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Alona Kuznetsova – the second-year student majoring in 231 Social Work. Social Pedagogy. Practical Psychology and Danylchuk Vsevolod – the second-year student majoring in 035.065 Philology. Eastern languages and literatures, who actively cooperate as trainers in the project “Prevention of gender-based violence, human trafficking and violation of children’s rights” with the support of the donor organization “Bread for the World”, took part in the All-Ukrainian educational and practical seminar for the National Coaching Network (youth component) NGO “La Strada-Ukraine” “The role of youth in the peaceful resolution of conflicts with the help of mediation and restorative practices.” The program “Training of specialists for the implementation of a restorative approach, mediation and the practice of the functioning of mediation services in educational institutions.

The work of the seminar was aimed at working out the following topics: conciliation procedures and features of their implementation; key elements of negotiations; shuttle diplomacy; basics of facilitation; mediation in conflict resolution and social cohesion.

During the seminar, students gained new knowledge and had the opportunity to practically consolidate the skills of alternative methods of conflict resolution and social cohesion to strengthen the role of the individual and the capacity of communities in achieving peace and understanding.

The trainers highly appreciated the quality and usefulness of the presented practical material and the possibilities of its application in future professional activities.
