World Social Work Day

The Department of Social Pedagogy celebrated the World Social Work Day.

Every year on the third Tuesday of March, experts in the social sphere celebrate World Social Work Day. The purpose of this holiday is to draw society’s attention to the problem of social insecurity, exchange experience in social work issues, and develop the social sphere.

On this occasion, on March 19, 2024, as part of the All-Ukrainian Webinar “Modern Challenges of Social Work”, the Department of Social Pedagogy of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and the Department of Social Pedagogy and Social Work of Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University organized a meeting with the Chairman of the Board of HOGO “MIR” in Ukraine”, director of the Association of Ukrainians in Portugal “Opening Moments” Zhanna Kharkivska-Dziuba.

The topic of the meeting was “Research of integration and adaptation processes of Ukrainians, especially those with temporary protection status, to understand their interaction with the new socio-cultural environment: on the example of Portugal.”

More than 150 participants from different regions of Ukraine took part in the event, including social workers, professional social workers of territorial communities, representatives of social service centers, territorial centers, public organizations and charitable foundations, teachers of pre-university and higher education institutions, students of the first (bachelor’s), second (master’s) and third (educational and scientific) levels of various higher education institutions of Ukraine.

The participants of the webinar had the opportunity to discuss the peculiarities of the adaptation and integration of Ukrainians abroad, as well as the guests about the preservation of national identity and the return of our compatriots to Ukraine.
