Career orientation meeting with lyceum students

A career orientation meeting was held with students of the Academic Lyceum named after the Shemet brothers of the Lubny City Council of the Poltava Region at the Educational and Research Institute of Philology and Journalism. 

The cooperation of institutions of higher and general secondary education is the basis of continuity and perspective in the competence growth of a citizen of modern Ukraine, in the formation of a motivated and qualified specialist of the future. That is why the teachers of the Ukrainian Language Department pay considerable attention to the organization of various events with the involvement of high school students and their teachers-mentors within the framework of career orientation work.

The purpose of the meeting with the students of the Academic Lyceum named after the Shemet brothers was to get acquainted with the history and the present of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, the Educational and Research Institute of Philology and Journalism, the Department of the Ukrainian Language – a peer of the university, as well as with the possibilities of obtaining educational services, in particular in the fields of secondary education and philology.

The meeting was moderated by the Assistant Professor of the Department, Oksana Kleschova, who introduced the teaching staff, coordinated the speeches of the speakers, and established feedback.

The Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Philology and Journalism, Viktoriia Dmytrenko, introduced the students present to the list of specialties and educational programs of the institute, told about the conditions for admission to the institution of higher education, the peculiarities of the organization of the educational process, invited to study those who want to develop professionally as a researcher-philologist, teacher – dictionary, translator, etc.

The Head of the Department Alla Nikitina emphasized the importance of the profession of a Ukrainian lexicographer, called on students to imitate the responsible attitude to the research and creative work of their teacher – Oksana Mastaieva, a specialist of the highest category, a senior teacher who participates in scientific and methodical activities of the department.

The Professor of the Department, Kateryna Glukhovtseva, shared her own experience of professional work with the word, emphasized the importance of language education in a person’s life, the desire to become an elite language person who feels the nuances of the meanings of words and verbal expressions, achieves exemplary communication in the native language.

Associate Professor of the Department, acting head of the Department of Quality Management of Educational Activities Margaryta Kravchenko, focused on the possibilities of higher education applicants to develop an individual educational trajectory in various fields of activity.

Communication with students was visually supplemented by presentations prepared by assistant professors of the Department Halyna Barylova and Nadiia Karlova. The students had the opportunity to hear a story about the development of the university and the department, to look at photos – a kind of witness of the past and present life of the community of teachers and students.

Lyceum graduates will soon be able to join the university community.
