Round Table at the ER IPP

On March 7, the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology hosted a round table “Taras Shevchenko Forever in Our Hearts”, dedicated to the 210th anniversary of the birth of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko.

The event was held on the initiative of teachers of the Primary Education Department, and was attended by the first-year students of the EP “Primary Education”, “Primary Education. Ukrainian Language and Literature”.

Traditionally, first-year students get acquainted with the works of Taras Shevchenko, which are studied in primary school, with the poet’s autobiographical lyrics in the process of mastering the mandatory educational component “Children’s literature with the basics of literary education”. For now, the goal of the meeting was to delve into the essence of Kobzar’s educational activities, his ideas aimed at raising the level of national education, forming a conscious nation.

The students’ reports regarding the main didactic principles of Taras Shevchenko’s pedagogical system, the role of family upbringing, and Christian values in the writer’s work seemed interesting. Information about Taras Shevchenko’s humanistic concept of education, the role of the teacher in the formation of the young generation has become very relevant in today’s conditions. The speeches of the participants of the round table were accompanied by well-chosen illustrations from the literary (prose and poetic) works of the artist, his painting work.

During the work, a lively discussion of the participants of the round table arose, related to methodological innovations that were discussed in pedagogical circles during Shevchenko’s time, and their relevance in the modern educational system.

The event ended with the recitation of the favorite poetic lines of the national genius, which are rightfully considered a spiritual testament to the native people.
