Olympiad in the specialty Physical Culture

The Olympiad in the specialty 014.11 Secondary Education. Physical Education was held. 

On March 4, 2024, the Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Education of the Educational and Research Institute of Health Care and Sports held the 1st stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in the specialty “Secondary Education. Physical Culture”, timed to celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the university.

The slogan of the Olympiad: “If a man keeps reviewing his old, so as continually to be acquiring the new, he may be a teacher” (Confucius).

The complex task of the Olympiad included three blocks: theoretical – testing knowledge on the theory and methods of physical education; practical – homework using the method of demonstration, explanation, showing and correcting errors after the student or students have completed the exercise – prepare a video clip with personal participation in the performance and explanation of the exercise that was offered to students to choose independently for  the 5th to the 11th grade pupils of their choice and / or an assistant in the role of a student; creative-research: students performed creative search-research tasks, in particular, demonstrated analytical-research development in the form of a round table on the topic “Distance learning of physical culture of students of a general secondary education institution” using dialogue and discussion methods. Students offered recommendations for improving the lesson in distance learning conditions, which will be implemented in physical education lessons with students of basic and full general secondary education.

The 10 best winners of the first (bachelor’s) and second (master’s) levels of higher education in the specialty 014.11 “Secondary Education. Physical Education” took part in the Olympiad. The participants demonstrated a high level of knowledge of the theory and methods of physical education, communicative and creative abilities, and the ability to defend their point of view.

The directorate of the Educational and Research Institute of Health Care and Sports, teachers of the Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Education congratulate the participants of the Olympiad on the successful completion of tasks, wish them inspiration and new achievements!
