On March 2, representatives of the Educational and Research Institute of Philology and Journalism joined the cultural life of Poltava.

Lecturers, headed by the director of the Institute, took part in a bright artistic event – the presentation of the collection “Drama Panorama 2023” with a performative reading of the play “Milkweed.” The event took place on the stage of the Poltava Academic Regional Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater named after Nikolai Hohol, with the support of the Poltava Regional Administration. The director of the reading is the main director of the theater, Honored Artist of Ukraine Vladislav Shevchenko.

The event was attended by: the head of Poltava Regional Administration Philip Pronin, his deputy Anton Chubenko, Oksana Gritsenko – the author of the play “Milkweed,” playwright, military correspondent, co-founder and one of the artistic leaders in the triumvirate of the Theater of Playwrights; Natalka Vorozhbyt – playwright, screenwriter, director, author of the scripts “Cyborgs,” “Catch Kaydash,” “Bad Roads,” winner of the Shevchenko Prize in 2022; Olga Baibak – Head of the Department of External Communications of NSTSU; Dmytro Ternovyi – Head of the project “Showcase of Ukrainian Drama”; Piotr Armyanovsky is a performer, director, playwright, works with

documentary films, theater and virtual reality.

The event was moderated by Iryna Haretz, playwright, writer, co-founder and one of the artistic directors in the triumvirate of the Playwrights Theater, head of the Contemporary Dialogue Theater in Poltava.

The book “Drama Panorama 2023” is the first theatrical anthology in Ukraine, which consists of the most successful texts of the year and, thus, sums up its dramatic result. The play “Molochaynyk” was included in the collection “Drama Panorama” as the winner of the drama competition “July Honey 2023.” The play about survival and resistance to the enemy of Ukrainians in occupation caused a lively discussion, as well as the general theme of the problem “Social significance of Ukrainian modern drama.”

Teachers actively joined the discussion of the topic of the event, which became a real highlight, actualized the importance of theatrical art in modern Ukrainian society. During the discussion, V. Dmytrenko emphasized the role of the teacher today, because in the play the active avengers of the occupiers were a retired teacher and her student, who turned out to be the embodiment of everyone’s dreams of the defender of the super-hero Molochaynyk. We invite everyone to join in reading and watching the plays of modern playwrights! They raise very urgent problems! Grateful to the author of the play, which made us once again think about the price paid every day for our lives!
