Virtual tour

A virtual tour of the educational building of the University in Lubny took place.

Recently, the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences held an event dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the founding of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. The memorable date was mentioned with the help of a “virtual tour” for the students of the Institute of the old building of the former Lubny diocesan school, built in 1907, where today the administration and leading structural subdivisions of the University are located.

Such a format, as noted by the initiator of its creation – Doctor of Science, Professor, head of the Department of History and Archeology Oleksandr Naboka, has become traditional for the “historical department”. For the first time, such an event was held during the anti-coronavirus quarantine measures in 2021 and was dedicated to highlighting the history and present of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National Univerity in Staro Bil. As the author of the event noted: the “feature” of our educational institution was accommodation in interesting buildings with a “great history”. Oleksandr Naboka mentioned the legendary “Vasniov House” in Luhansk, where in the early 20s of the XX century the University was founded, the spacious buildings that served as its home from the 20s of the 20th century until the stormy year of 2014, as well as the already mentioned building of the former women’s gymnasium in Starobilsk.

The speaker’s main focus was on highlighting the history of today’s Lubny “harbor” of our university. Among other things, the speaker noted that it was built in a mixed style of architectural styles prevailing at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries: Neo-Byzantine canon and modern. The architect was Oleksii Beketov – related by family ties to the prominent Alchevsky family of entrepreneurs and patrons, who systematically supported the development of Ukrainian education and culture in the Luhansk region at the beginning of the 20th century.

The event aroused the interest of the listeners. Together with them, it was decided to further develop this format of educational interaction.
