Advisory hour dedicated to the University Day

The advisory hour dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the university was held for students majoring in “Secondary Education (Ukrainian Language and Literature)”.

On the eve of the celebration of the 103rd anniversary of the founding of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, teachers of the Department of Ukrainian Language held an advisory hour for students majoring in “Secondary Education (Ukrainian Language and Literature)” of the Educational and Research Institute of Philology and Journalism.

The mentors familiarized the future language teachers with the history of the foundation of the university from March 1, 1921, when the provincial higher pedagogical courses were opened, on the basis of which the first Institute of Public Education in Donbas (DINO) was later founded in Luhansk.

Significant moments in the history of the university were illustrated by a multimedia presentation, on the slides of which were recorded the first graduations of writers, graduates of the historical and philological department, participants in artistic amateur activities, and the teaching staff.

The students learned about such historical documents as the matricule (record book), trips to folklore practice, diplomas of graduates of different years, etc., and tried to understand the creative heritage of well-known Ukrainian scientists – M.F. Nakonechnyi, O.P. Bezpalko, B.A Sharpylo, O. M. Mashtabei, A. S. Zelenko, T. P. Ternovska, K. D. Glukhovtseva, A. V. Nikitina, and others.

During the event, modern milestones in the history of the university were also mentioned, in particular, with the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2014, the university was moved from Luhansk to Starobilsk and other cities of the Luhansk region, in connection with the active phase of the Russian invasion in March 2022, the second move to the cities of Poltava, Lubny and Myrhorod.

Photos with images of the university campus, the zoological museum, the museum of the history of the university, the park-museum of anthropomorphic steles and Polovtsian stone statues, etc., aroused the interest of students and lively discussion.

The advisors told the students about the long history of the university and corporate traditions of Luhansk National University, as well its achievements in various areas of activity.

At the end of the event, those present expressed the opinion that despite the difficult conditions of today, the university remains a powerful center of educational and scientific life in Ukraine.
