A guest lecture “Approaches and Methods in the Preservation of the Wild Nature of Ukraine in the Conditions of a Full-Scale War” was held at the Institute of Natural and Argarian Sciences.
Bachelor’s and master’s students majoring in “Ecology”, “Biology”, “Agronomy”, “Earth Sciences”, “Horticulture and Park Management”, “Forestry” and other educational programs of the ER INAS as well as teachers attended a guest lecture Olha LAVRIK, a leading specialist of the ecological and educational department of the “Holosiivskyi” NPP.
During the meeting, they discussed the problems of preserving the wild nature of Ukraine in the conditions of a full-scale war.
Mrs. Olha talked about what methods are used to study the state of the environment and what environmental damage is caused to nature. Therefore, during the meeting, important issues were considered – what should be the next steps for nature conservation in Ukraine: inventory and mapping of populations of all species that can be identified (as well as types of habitats); determining the impact of military factors on species; determination of indicators of unacceptable levels of pollution due to military actions for biodiversity and development of methods for their determination; identification of indicator species and development of monitoring programs for them; counts of the number of all rare species; mapping invasive species and monitoring their spread; monitoring of successional changes, determination of the volume of ecosystem services not received by Ukrainian citizens as a result of military digression.
The academic community of the Educational and Research Institute of Natural and Agrarian Sciences expresses their sincere gratitude to Ms. Olha and our partners of the “Holosiivskyi” NPP for the relevant and meaningful lecture.
