22.2.2024
Students pursuing education in Eastern languages, particularly in the program “Translation (English and a second foreign language (Chinese))”, demonstrate their interest in socio-humanitarian issues.
They participated in an online meeting with women’s rights expert, social worker, and activist Nizam Ul HAQ from Pakistan, organized by the alumna of the former Department of Foreign Languages, Associate Professor K. Kotelenets (Institute of Social and Humanitarian Sciences).
The event on the topic “Gender Differentiation In Islamic Society (the case of Pakistan)” was conducted in English, providing students with the opportunity to engage with the speaker in the language they are studying and practice translation skills. Mr. Nizam shared his extensive experience in women’s rights protection and highlighted the situation regarding gender differentiation in Pakistan, emphasizing its cultural foundations in Islamic society.
The meeting served as an excellent example of collaboration between the academic community and English-speaking experts working in the field of gender studies.
