Valentine’s Day at the Department of Romance & Germanic Philology

February 14 – Valentine’s Day! … In love with life, people, their Motherland, and their business. This is all about the winners and teachers of the Department of Romano-Germanic Philology of the Educational and Research Institute of Philology and Journalism.

Students of the 1st-2nd years of the first (bachelor) level of higher education of the Department of Romance & Germanic Philology enthusiastically plunged into an English-language excursion (organizer – Candidate of Philology, Head of Department Khairulina Nailia Farytivna) about the history of the holiday. The video actively watched and discussed these fascinating traditions connected with St. Valentine’s Day: “Celebration of Valentine’s Day in Ukraine and the USA.”

The event helped the students to improve and deepen their knowledge of a foreign language (English). The future teachers immersed themselves in the atmosphere of the history of this holiday in Europe; in particular, they sang modern English songs about love, looked for analogs of English proverbs and sayings about love in the Ukrainian language, took an active part in discussing issues of love in various areas of our lives and signed “valentine cards” for the closest person in English, received a lot of positive emotions and expressed a desire to continue the practice of language initiatives.
