Kruty Heroes Remembrance Day at Brianka College
31.1.2024
The events devoted to the Kruty Heroes Remembrance Day took place at the Brianka College.
January 29 is the Kruty Heroes Remembrance Day – one of the tragic and at the same time highly legendary pages in the history of the Ukrainian liberation struggle. 106 years ago, on January 29, 1918, Ukrainians held back the enemy’s attack on Kyiv, showing sacrifice and heroism for the sake of Ukraine’s independence.
This year, the thematic hour “They defended the Motherland” was held for the students of the College for the Kruty Heroes Remembrance Day.
It was in those distant times that Ukrainian students were the first to defend Ukraine. In 1918, a battle took place that for many years became one of the symbols of the struggle of the Ukrainian people for freedom and independence.
The battle of Ukrainian soldiers against the Bolshevik army at the Kruty station delayed the enemy for four days. In this way, the volunteers held the capital for the time needed to conclude the Brest-Litovsk peace, which meant international recognition of Ukrainian independence.
Almost a hundred years have passed, and we are once again forced to defend our independence at the cost of human sacrifices.
The feat of the brave students became a symbol of courage and unconditional love the Motherland.
