Interview for the program “10 Questions to a Historian”

Oleksandr Naboka, head of the Department of History and Archeology gave an interview to the “10 Questions to a Historian” program from the “History Without Myths” team.

Recently, Doctor of Science, Professor, Head of the Department of History and Archeology Oleksandr Naboka became a guest of the blogger program “10 Questions to a Historian” from the “History Without Myths” team. The author of the channel is a well-known Ukrainian historian and popular blogger Vladlen Maraiev, whose aforementioned popularizing historical YouTube channel has almost 800,000 subscribers.

The topic of Oleksandr Naboka’s discussion with the host of the program (a native of Luhansk) Yevhen Mochalov was the Ukrainian history of the Luhansk region. In particular, the appropriateness of using the term “Wild Field” was considered; the civilizing role of Ukrainian immigrants in the process of development of the Luhansk region at the beginning of modern times is shown; the course and reason for the defeat of the Ukrainian National Revolution of 1917-1921; origin of symbols of the regional center – Mark-5 tanks.

Separately, Soviet and Russian-imperial ideological stereotypes and myths regarding the historical development of Luhansk region were debunked in the conversation. According to Oleksandr Naboka, such events are important in the process of popularizing the Ukrainian history of the Luhansk region, as well as the scientific achievements of our university.
