On January 25-27, 2024, the First International Forum of Political Scientists in Ukraine, organized by the Center for Political Studies and the Department of Political Science of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, took place in Lviv. Our university was represented by the director of the ER ISHS Anton Bader – Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations Svitlana Vovk – Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor.
The first First International Forum of Political Scientists in Ukraine was held in the picturesque city of Lviv and brought together dozens of experts, scientists and educators and more than a hundred participants and guests from European countries, Visegrad Group countries and Ukraine.
During the Forum, there was a discussion of practical and theoretical innovations and trends in political science and practice, as well as key aspects of political science and modern politics both in our country and abroad. The background of the Forum will certainly be a full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war and granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership in 2022.
There were many panel discussions and workshops at the Forum, namely:
1. Trends, innovations and problems of the development of political education and science in the countries of the Visegrad Four and Ukraine.
2. The course and consequences of political transformation in the countries of the Visegrad Four before and after joining the EU: experience for Ukraine.
3. Party-electoral and institutional design in European countries and Ukraine: common and different.
4. Formation and use of databases on elections in the countries of the Visegrad Four: experience for Ukraine.
The forum ended in an atmosphere of active debate and mutual exchange of opinions. The participants remained inspired and ready for further challenges facing political science and practice in Ukraine and the world.
The First International Forum of Political Scientists in Ukraine marked the beginning of a new stage of cooperation and exchange of ideas between representatives of the political community. The diversity of opinions and views, the highlighting of current problems and prospects for development gave impetus to further research and joint projects. We believe that the combined efforts of political scientists from all over the world will help to find answers to the complex challenges faced by modern states.
