The public reception of the ER ITT on consumer rights protection

A regular meeting of the Public Admissions Office of the ER ITT on consumer rights protection was held using Google Meet service.

Among the participants were the first-year master’s students of the ER ITT, the educational program “Commodity Science and Expertise in Customs Affairs” and leading specialists of the NGO “Research Center “Independent Expertise”.

At the meeting, a request for help from a consumer who purchased men’s autumn sports shoes (according to the labeling) of inappropriate quality was considered.

In the process of short-term operation, within the warranty period, a hidden manufacturing defect manifested itself in the shoes in the form of soaking through the middle of the shoes. This occurred while the consumer was returning home and was caught in the rain for approximately 10-12 minutes.

A detailed review and analysis of the situation was carried out, provided by the consumer of shoes of inadequate quality, packaging documents (billing, operational, consumer complaint and the trading company’s response to it).

The consumer joined the discussion of the situation over the phone and spoke about the state of affairs at the time of the discussion.

Those present were given the task of developing proposals for solving the given situation: to advise the consumer about his rights and further actions and to prepare a statement (appeal) to the subject of business activity to solve the problem.
