Feast of the Olympic Flag

The University hosted the “Feast of the Olympic Flag” event dedicated to the IV Winter Youth Olympic Games.
On January 25, 2024, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University hosted the “Fest of the Olympic Flag” event dedicated to the IV Winter Youth Olympic Games, which will be held from January 19 to February 2 at the sports arenas of Gangwondo province in the Republic of Korea.
The event was attended by: master of sports of Ukraine of international class, master of sports of Ukraine in powerlifting, director of the Educational and Research Institute of Health Care and Sports Oleksandr DUBOVOI, head of the Primary Trade Union Organization of the university Volodymyr MOROZ, students, teachers and employees of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, as well as the director of Vasyl Barka Gymnasium Olga ISHCHENKO with the students of the institution.
The host of the event was the deputy director for social and humanitarian work of the ER IHCS, teacher of the Department of Olympic and Professional Sports, bronze medalist of the Olympic Games Iryna YANOVYCH.
At the beginning of the event, the national anthem of Ukraine and the Olympic anthem were played.
The head of the Trade Union Volodymyr MOROZ, the director of the ER IHCS Oleksandr DUBOVOI and the director of the gymnasium named after V. Barka Olha ISHCHENKO spoke with welcoming words.
University students and gymnasium students performed in front of the audience with a musically energetic movement, and students of the Educational and Research Institute of Health Care and Sports performed their famous Battle Hopak to the song “Cossack race has no translation”.
A video presentation about athletes participating in the IV Winter Youth Olympic Games was presented. Those present learned that the participants of the Games are competing for 81 sets of medals in 15 sports, and the Ukrainian national team is represented in 13 sports disciplines, namely: biathlon, alpine skiing, luge, ski racing, skeleton, curling, short track , snowboarding, ski jumping, biathlon, figure skating and freestyle.
To date, Ukrainians already have two medals – silver and bronze. The competition is still going on.
We wish the Ukrainian Olympic team a successful start, a medal podium and always worthy to represent our country in international arenas.
