Defense of master’s theses at the ER IA
25.1.2024
The Department of Fine and Decorative and Applied Arts hosted a defense of creative works at the Poltava Regional Library.
On January 23 and 24, defenses of master’s qualification theses were held at the Department of Fine and Decorative and Applied Arts. The defenses were held in the art drawing room of the Poltava Regional Library named after I. P. Kotlyarevskyi.
This year, the graduates took up very complex and relevant topics of research and creative work. The scientific research was thorough, and most of the creative works reflected the painful topic of war for Ukraine.
The commission was impressed by the works “Donbas Madonna” by Kateryna Khroma. The master’s student survived the airstrike on the Kramatorsk railway station, and depicted on canvas all her experiences and pain for the fate of Ukraine.
Hanna Borzova’s ceramic sculpture “Yellow-Blue Heart” represents all the soldiers who protect Ukrainians.
Vladyslav Kyrpa’s ceramic plaque entitled “Hero”, dedicated to the life and work of the German Jacob Niebuhr, who, according to one version, was the founder of the Ukrainian city of New York, and Natalia Kon’s symbolic work – “Arkan” – a dance to victory, attracted the attention of all present.
The master’s students surprised by the variety of techniques and types of art including picturesque still life, works on historical themes, modern symbolism, landscapes, a hunting scene, ceramic compositions, and metal welding.
The commission highly appreciated the works of the master’s students. We wish them creative flights of inexhaustible inspiration!
