Cooperation with Organization “Veterans of Chornobyl”

On January 23, representatives of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University were invited to the Report meeting of the Lubny City Public Organization of the Disabled “Veterans of Chornobyl”.

The head of the organization is Larisa Mykolayivna POGREBNIAK. The meeting was held by the Deputy Head of the Organization and an employee of the university Tetiana DEMIANCHUK. Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University has been cooperating with this organization since 2022.

At the Report meeting, an event related to the 37th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster was a pleasant memory, when a joint excursion to the Chornobyl National Museum was organized on April 20, 2023, on the initiative of Organization “Chornobyl Veterans”. Students, teachers and employees of our university took part in the excursion together with the liquidators.

On April 26, 2023, the Primary Trade Union Organization of LTSNU, led by the head Volodymyr MOROZ, students and employees of the university, at the invitation of the Chornobyl Organization, joined the city events in honor of the 37th anniversary in the city of Lubny to pay tribute by laying flowers at the memorial a sign of gratitude to the liquidators of Chornobyl, those who saved the world from radiation at the cost of their lives and health.

On October 1, 2023, on the initiative of the administration of LTSNU, the Primary Trade Union Organization and student self-government, the Chornobyl Veterans Organization was invited to an event on the occasion of the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks and the Holy Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Day of Education Workers. A traditional health day was organized for students for the purpose of patriotic education with interesting contests and competitions, and after the competition, all those present were treated to a delicious Cossack kulish prepared by the Chornobyl liquidators in their field kitchen.

At the Report Meeting, the head of the organization, Larisa POGREBNIAK, also thanked the rector, Olena KARAMAN, for her help and cooperation in holding the “Black Wings of Trouble” children’s drawing competition of the VI Open Children’s and Youth Festival of the Chornobyl Song “Memory of Chornobyl”, at which representatives of the University were part of the jury and professionally evaluated the artistic works of the participants, and a week later, together, they took part in the opening of the exhibition of the winners’ works in the Art Gallery and their awarding.

During the Report Meeting, the Rector of LTSNU, Olena KARAMAN, and the head of the Primary Trade Union Organization, Volodymyr MOROZ, were repeatedly thanked for fruitful cooperation, joint participation in many city events together with the leadership of the Lubny community, and university students’ visit to the museum exhibition of the Chornobyl organization in order to perpetuate the memory to liquidate the consequences of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and patriotic education of the younger generation.

Specific items for further cooperation with Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University were included and read in the Work Plan of the Chornobyl Veterans Organization for 2024.
