Discussion of the educational programs

Discussion of the educational programs “Language and Literature (Chinese, English)”, “Language and Literature (Japanese, English)” and “Translation (English and a second foreign language (Chinese))” was held at the Educational and Research Institute  of Philology and Journalism.

The guarantors of the educational programs “Language and Literature (Chinese, English)”, “Language and Literature (Japanese, English)” and “Translation (English and a second foreign language (Chinese))” held a meeting with students and stakeholders

 Meetings of educational program guarantors with students and stakeholders are important events that contribute to improving the process of implementing educational programs in an educational institution. On December 15, 2023, a meeting was held at the National Institute of Philology and Journalism to discuss various aspects of the programs, take into account the needs of interested parties and ensure partnership between the workgroup, employers and the student community.

The meeting was organized by Y. Malakhova (“Language and Literature (Japanese, English)”), S. Perova (“Translation (English and a second foreign language (Chinese)”) and D. Perepadia to allow an open and constructive dialogue on the way to improving the educational process.

The guarantors drew the attention of those present to the changes made to the educational programs in 2023, discussed the specifics of training future specialists in two foreign languages, one of which is Eastern. They reminded about the importance of observing the principles of academic integrity and participation in non-formal education for the purpose of professional and personal development of the applicants.

The meeting was also attended by Y. Smola (MSK-NOVA company), S. Shamshura (OSGA IT company) and O. Pokatilova (Deluxe-Voyage travel agency), who take an active part in the process of improving and implementing educational programs. All of them expressed their positive impression of the content and relevance of the presented changes in their reviews. At previous meetings with the guarantors and the workgroup, Mr. Takashi Itozawa, the first teacher of the Japanese language at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, who is systematically invited by the department to events and classes to improve Japanese speaking skills, also shared his opinion about EP “Language and Literature (Japanese, English)”.

During the discussion, the students expressed their impressions about the programs. For example, SofiaNedogybchenko spoke about the importance of learning Hieroglyphics at the initial stage of studying Chinese. All present supported her unanimously. MaryanaMaksylevychalso proposed to addsome related disciplineson the Chinese language in the initial courses of the educational program “Translation (English and a second foreign language (Chinese)”, even though Chinese is not the main language studied. Daria Korabel expressed her wishes for the development a discipline, which involves separate teaching of listening.

The meeting of students, the guarantors of educational programs and stakeholders is a valuable tool for further improvement of the implemented programs and increasing the efficiency of the educational process. We sincerely thank all participants of the discussion for fruitful cooperation.
