German Christmas traditions

German Christmas traditions and the fourth week of Advent at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology & Journalism.

On December 19, the Department of Romanct & Germanic Philology of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology & Journalism hosted a cultural and informative event on the topic “Das müssen wir feiern,” dedicated to German Christmas traditions: the celebration of Christmas in Germany, Advent, symbols of Christmas, the Christmas Advent calendar. This event was part of the “Christmas Advent at the Department of Romano-Germanic Philology” events. It was organized and presented to the audience by the senior teacher of the department, Blednova Olha Hryhorivna, and students in the third year of the specialty 014 Secondary Education “Language and Literature (German, English).”

Teachers and students attended the event, students of the 11-A class of the communal institution of general secondary education “Lyceum No. 13 of Khmelnytskyi City Council”.

During the event, those present in the role of detectives analyzed objects that are not related to Christmas, looked for attributes without which no Christmas evening in Germany can do, compared German traditions with the traditions of celebrating Christmas around the world, listened to the reports of Germans about Christmas holidays in other countries. The creation of a festive atmosphere was facilitated by the participation of those present at the end of the event in a festive survey on the theme of Christmas, thanks to which the participants won virtual 100 euros for unforgettable virtual gifts for themselves and their loved ones.
