New Year’s events from the Design Department

New Year’s events were held by teachers and students of the Design Department of the Institute of Arts.
On December 9, as part of the activities of the Center for Design and Applied Arts “Creative Space”, the teachers and students of the Design Department of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine held New Year’s events: a master class and face painting in the shopping center “Kyiv” in Poltava.
A master class on painting Christmas tree ornaments was conducted by Nadiia Lukafeinyk, master of folk art of the National Union of Masters of Folk Art of Ukraine, teacher of the Design Department of LTSNU.
New Year’s tree decorations are the main attribute of decorating a festive beauty tree. Petrykivka painting, or “petrykivka”, is a Ukrainian decorative and ornamental folk painting that originated in the Dnieper region in the village of Petrykivka, which is where the name of this art form comes from. A characteristic feature of Petrykiv painting is the predominance of plant patterns (mostly floral) and the creation of primarily fantastic, unprecedented forms of flowers, which are based on careful observation of local flora, for example, “onions” or “curly flowers”. All visitors to the master class got acquainted with the artistic means of painting. We created an exclusive decoration for the holiday.
Face painting in the “Children’s face art” technique was offered for children from students under the leadership of senior teacher of the Design Department, Oksana Hetman. During two hours, students painted about 20 children. The choice of coloring topics is diverse, starting from characters from popular movies and cartoons to drawings with flowers, dolls, butterflies.
A magical New Year’s Eve atmosphere was created at the event. A master class on painting Christmas tree decorations and face painting using the “Children’s face art” technique is the best start to a holiday fairy tale for children and a pleasant and useful vacation for the family.
