Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the ER ISHS
7.12.2023
The Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was celebrated at the Educational and Research Institute of Social and Humanitarian Sciences.
In the conditions of countering Russia’s military aggression, it is important to honor our heroes – Ukrainian soldiers who are defending Ukraine today. Part of this process is the popularization of the history of the Ukrainian army, an emphasis on victories in battles in which, at various moments in history, the soldiers of our country participated. Among such glorious pages of military history is the resounding victory of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian army led by Prince Konstantin Ivanovich Ostrozky over Moscow forces in the Battle of Orsha in September 1514.
The event dedicated to the celebration of the Armed Forces Day, which took place on December 6 this year at the Educational and Research Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, was devoted to the coverage of this event. Oleksandr Naboka, PhD, Professor, head of the Department of History and Archeology was the speaker of the event. In his traditional creative manner, the speaker revealed the reasons, prerequisites and course of the battle near Orsha, considered the life path of the commanders who led the enemy’s troops.
Oleksandr Naboka, analyzing the historical results of the Battle of Orsha, drew parallels with modern times, suggesting that today’s Russian-Ukrainian conflict is a continuation of a centuries-old confrontation caused by Moscow’s imperial ambitions.
