Guest lecture with the radio host

A guest lecture with the radio host Armiia FM was held for students majoring in “Audiovisual Art and Production”. 

On November 29, teachers and students majoring in “Audiovisual Art and Production” of  the ER ICA met with the graduate of this major, Armiia FM radio host Nataliia Shmarko. Students had the opportunity to be present both online and in the classroom. The meeting was moderated by Alona Tereshchenko, a teacher at the Department of Cultural Studies and Cinema and Television Arts.

Nataliia talked about her path from studying at our university to employment at Armiia FM radio. She explained the structure of the radio station, the differences between the work of military media and civilian media.

Especially interesting and valuable was the information about military journalism, about Natalia’s trips to the east of Ukraine, about the preparation for them, about the peculiarities of journalists’ stay in cities where hostilities are taking place. Information about the use of psychological techniques by war journalists was useful, because they constantly encounters people who are under stress.

In the second part of the lecture, students had the opportunity to ask the guest their questions. They learned about curious situations that happened to the radio host during the broadcast, whether she has any rituals, about her attitude to journalistic ethics.

It is very pleasant to meet with graduates, to see their growth, their desire to work in their profession. Thank you Ms. Natalia for this meeting! We hope it will be a good motivation for our students.
