Guest lecture with media representatives

A guest lecture with representatives of Poltava media was held at the Department of Cultural Studies and Cinema and TV Arts.

On November 15, representatives of the Poltava media visited the Educational and Research Institute of Culture and Arts to hold a lecture for students of the “Audiovisual Art and Production” specialty.

For students who could not attend the classroom, conditions were created to join online. The moderator of the meeting is Anatolii Mishin, guarantor of the “TV Host” educational program, honored journalist of Ukraine, member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. He summarized and clarified the questions from students. 

Guests debunked myths about the profession, talked about their experience working in various media, and about curious incidents during live broadcasts. The lecture took place in the format of a conversation. Students enthusiastically listened to the advice of professionals and actively asked the guests their questions.

The main topic of discussion was the question of the reorganization of classical television in connection with the digitalization of mass media.

“But television (classical ed.) will live as long as propaganda lives, as long as it is profitable for politicians,” believes Natalka Sharai, head of the information content editorial office of the Poltava branch of Suspilny.

Also speakers were Yaroslav Zhuravel – journalist, freelancer and Iryna Babenko – TV presenter of PTV channel.

Students learned about important aspects of their profession, which they will work on in the future. Now, a professional media person needs to be able to not only write high-quality texts and read them on camera, but also possess cameramanship and the basics of editing. Also, in this profession, the psychological aspect plays a big role, the ability to place a person to yourself, because a successful interview can depend on this.

Therefore, students hope that meetings of this format will continue to take place in the institute.
