A thematic meeting was held on the topic: “European Donbas: the history of the tenth Belgian province according to the documents of the State Archive of the Luhansk Region.”

On November 15, as part of the memorandum of cooperation, the State Archives of the Luhansk Region held a thematic meeting with students of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, on the topic: “European Donbas: the history of the tenth Belgian province according to the documents of the State archive of Luhansk region”.

During the event, the history of the origin, formation and activity of the Lysychan soda plant was highlighted on the basis of archival documents of the State Archive of the Luhansk region, as well as debunking the myth about the industrial development of Donbas as a result of the work of the Soviet authorities.

The participants of the thematic meeting had the opportunity to learn about the online exhibition of the State Archive of the Luhansk region “Legend of the chemical industry of Donbas – Lysichan soda plant” and discussed the questions that arose after the presentation. Luhansk region is a land with a rich and extensive history, which bears traces of past eras and age-old events. Our mission is to preserve the facts and prevent them from being distorted,” the speakers said.
