Guest lecture about Ukrainian women’s traditional costume

Students of the Institute of Culture and Arts learned about interesting details concerning Ukrainian women’s traditional costume.

On October 30, within the cooperation between Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and V.G. Korolenko Poltava National Pedagogical University, a guest lecture by the Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Fine Arts, Member of the National Union of Masters of Folk Art of Ukraine – Tetiana Valentynivna Saienko on the topic “Ukrainian Women’s Traditional Costume” took place. 

The guest lecture was attended by teachers and students of all departments of the Educational and Research Institute of Culture and Arts.

The listeners got acquainted with the traditional elements of the folk costume, its special cut, decoration, learned about amulets and the meaning of embroidered clothes, as well as weaving techniques. Also at the lecture, students and teachers learned about the peculiarities of the creation and use of other elements of the traditional Ukrainian costume – crown, handkerchiefs, ochipka, jewelry, shoes, etc.

The lecture was held in the premises of the Poltava Regional Universal Scientific Library named after I. P. Kotliarevskyi, with which our university has signed a cooperation agreement, and where many interesting events of the ER ICA take place.
