A thematic event dedicated to Halloween

The Department of Romance & Germanic Philology  held a thematic event dedicated to Halloween.

As part of English-speaking countries’ cultural studies, on October 31, the lecturers (Associate Professor Nailia F. Khairulina and Associate Professor Olha Ye. Yunina) organized and held a thematic event dedicated to Halloween in English.

This holiday is celebrated most loudly in the USA, Canada, Ireland, and Great Britain. Although Halloween is not a public holiday in these countries, it is second only to Christmas in popularity. In Ukraine, Halloween also became widespread after gaining independence.

The students of the I-III courses watched a video about the history of Halloween and its traditions and did several interactive vocabulary exercises using the platforms Liveworksheets, Quizlet, and Flippity and held a quiz.

The students discussed some interesting facts about the Halloween celebration very lively. They also learned new words and phrases and completed grammar tasks.
