Literary evening at the Department of Oriental Languages

The Youth Club of Eastern Cultures organized a literary evening at the Faculty of Foreign Languages

On October 13, the Youth Club of Eastern Cultures held a literary evening dedicated to the literature of the countries of the Far East. Students studying Chinese and Japanese, their teachers and the dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Viktoriya Dmytrenko joined the meeting.

The members of the club welcomed a new member – Nataliya Yugan, professor of the Department of Oriental Languages, who is a specialist in Japanese literature. Mrs. Natalia prepared a presentation on the topic “Metadrama Koki Mitani ” The Laughing Academy”. Julia Malakhova, guarantor of the educational program “Language and Literature (Japanese, English)”, revealed the peculiarities of the image of the frog in the Japanese folk tale “The Frog from Osaka and the Frog from Kyoto”.

Students also actively presented their reports and vivid presentations. Svitlana Yesakova prepared a presentation on the topic “Creativity of Li Bo (李白)”. Sofia Nedogybchenko introduced the audience to the work of Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (墨香铜臭), a modern Chinese writer of fantasy novels. Daria Mykhaylova spoke about the life and work of Wan Shifu (王实甫), a Chinese playwright. Danylo Balakleets told about the life and work of Guan Hanqing (关汉卿), and Mykhailo Kuznetsov told about the life and work of Pu Sunling (蒲松龄). Nochovny Oleksandr outlined symbolism in Chinese literature.

At the end of the meeting, a traditional open vote took place. Sofia Nedogybchenko, a 1st year student, proposed the topic of the next meeting “Traditional clothing of the countries of the Far East”. The topic was supported unanimously.

The Department of Oriental Languages and the Youth Club of Oriental Cultures are sincerely grateful to all participants and speakers for a unique literary evening!
