Discussion of the educational program 061 “Journalism”

It has become a tradition of the Department of Journalism and Publishing to discuss the educational program with the aim of improving it.

On October 12, 2023, there was a meeting of the guarantor of the educational program (Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Olena Kravchenko), support group (candidates of sciences in social communications, associate professors Olga Kutsevska and Oksana Korchagina), acting head of the Education Quality Department (Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Margarita Kravchenko), the dean of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Journalism (Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Artem Halych) with a stakeholder – the presenter of the Dnipro TV channel – Ksenia Shtompel.

During the meeting, the following were considered: the content of the courses and their structure; teaching methods; modern teaching methods, including practical work and interactive classes.

Separately, the requirements for graduates were discussed, in particular, what skills and competencies graduates of the program should have. Do they meet the needs of modern journalism?

Opportunities for internships for students were separately discussed and how the program will contribute to their professional development was discussed.

The stakeholder expressed her readiness to contribute to the practical training of students, to provide them with the opportunity to complete an internship at the Dnipro TV channel, and to provide a basis for carrying out scientific research.

A lively discussion was sparked by the issue of ensuring the compliance of program learning outcomes with the demands of modern journalism.

The meeting turned out to be interesting and useful for all interested parties.

Such discussions contribute to improving the educational program and ensuring that it meets the needs of modern journalism.
