Academic Council of LNU ran its regular meeting on March 25.
One of the most important items on the agenda was the one on implementation of programs for academic mobility, foreign students training and other forms of international activity. It was reported on by the Acting Head of the Center for International and Educative Work I. V. Myhovych.
As Iryna Viktorivna noted the university recognition in the European and world educational environment, active partnership and entry to international education and research organizations was the strategic target of university development.
Center for International and Educative Work functions at the university to enhance the international cooperation. It coordinates the international education relations with the corresponding institutes abroad, implements the programs for professional advancement of academic staff and university administration, provides research and methodological support and execution of documentation. In addition, it works with the foreign students according to the regulatory acts of Ukraine that regulate providing education service to foreigners and worthy conditions for their staying in Ukraine.
According to the results of cooperation with Swiss universities in 2015, our university has been awarded a grant by Research Fund of Switzerland for courses “E-Tutor Certification” jointly with “KROK” University (Corporation of Education and Personnel Development) (Kyiv), Zurich University of Applied Sciences (Zurich, Switzerland) and Ankara University. During October –December 2015, 60 lecturers of LNU academic staff were studying according to a program developed by Zurich University and obtained Internationally Recognized Certificates that testified professional advancement certificate taken once per 5 years.
In October 2015 Window on America Center supported by the USA Embassy in Ukraine was opened at the premises of LNU. Grant supposed auditorium repair, equipment and furniture installation, purchasing English methodological and reference literature, CDs and DVDs. Every week Center coordinator gives free English classes there. Center has free access to the libraries of the USA universities (E-Library USA). Center activity was recognized as satisfactory at the annual coordinator reporting conference in Vienna (Austria).
In December 2015 LNU and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) signed grant agreement “Education Renewal: Assistant to Displaced Universities” within the framework of the Ukrainian Confidence Building Initiative (UCBI).
Due to the cooperation with the Embassy of South Korea in December 2015, university obtained computer and office equipment to provide quality education process.
In 2016 university obtained grant by Britain Council in Ukraine to joint research project “Research Capacity Building: A case study of Displaced University” with Cambridge within a program of higher education internationalisation.
LNU has passed a contest of Britain Council supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and became a participant of Program for Developing Leader Potential of Universities of Ukraine proposed by LNU team called “Building European University – Leader of Regional Development and Education in the East of Ukraine, Active Participant of End Conflict Contribution”.
On December 25, 2015 there was Memorandum of Understanding which gave LNU an opportunity to be a member of Nationwide Network of Universities-Partners of Community Based Approach to Local Development Project. On March 2, 2016 Resource Center for Sustainable Local Development was opened with support of the project. The main aim of the project is to assist communities in finding qualified councilors, obtaining important information and be a tool for different needs of community. Center website will be such tool. This is a platform to provide information and exchange experience on sustainable local development of Luhansk region.
Having heard and discussed the report of I. V. Myhovych, the Academic Council approved Program for Prospective Development of International Activity of SE “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” for 2016 – 2018 that defined goals, tasks, general principles and organization of events on international cooperation of university for the period till 2018 and would be the base for prospective current work planning in international cooperation, policy, solving organizational, financial and staff questions regarding university international activity management.
Pro-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work Oleksandr Ivanovych Babychev reported on competitive things. Candidate of Philological Sciences, Docent Olena Anatoliivna Lapko stood for a post of Head of the Department of Ukrainian Literature, Svitlana Viacheslavivna Perova – for a post of Head of the Department of Translation Theory and Practice. All candidates were selected by secret voting.
Any other business included an item on recommend for printing research and educative works.
