The Faculty of Foreign Languages celebrates the International Day of Peace!
21.9.2023
September 21st is the International Day of Peace celebrated all over the world. Since its inception on November 30, 1981, this day has become the World Day of Renunciation of Violence and Fire.
Every year, on this day, people organize special festive events. They traditionally include a Peace March; an integral part of the celebrations is the echo of the Peace Bell, which was made from coins collected by children from 60 countries of the world and donated to the United Nations by Japan; and a Minute of Silence in memory of those who died in military conflicts.
The emblem was a white dove holding an olive branch in its beak. Its creator was the famous artist Pablo Picasso.
As part of the International Day of Peace, the lecturers of the Department of Romance & Germanic Philology organized several thematic events for students of the I-III courses in English (Associate Professor Nailia Khairulina), German (Lecturer Iryna Skliarova) and Ukrainian languages. The students immersed themselves in the history of this day, learned many interesting facts, held a quiz, and discussed such concepts as “friendship” and “peace” and their meaning for each of us.
Let there be PEACE in Ukraine!
