Meeting of the Youth Club of Eastern Cultures, dedicated to the myths and legends of the Far East countries

The first meeting of the Youth Club of Eastern Cultures in the new academic year was held at the Faculty of Foreign Languages

Teachers and students studying Chinese and Japanese languages took part in the 1st meeting of the Youth Club of Oriental Cultures. Regular participants welcomed the new members of the club – first-year students, introduced them to the activities of the club and areas of work.

The meeting was devoted to myths and legends of the Far East countries. According to tradition, the participants prepared reports and bright presentations on the chosen topic. Sofya Nedogybchenko, a 1st-year student, prepared a video and presentation dedicated to the legends of the nine-tailed fox in the Far East countries. There was a discussion about the peculiarities of the image of the fox in different cultures. Daria Korabel dedicated her report to the world-famous terracotta army, in particular, revealed information about the creation and features of the burial complex. Nochovnyi Oleksandr familiarized the audience with the legends about the outstanding Yellow Emperor, after which the participants remembered the well-known legends associated with him. Maria Shapovalova dedicated her performance to the creators of Chinese civilization, to outstanding emperors who are still respected in China as historical figures. Anastasia Pshenychna prepared a presentation about the dragon, a mythical creature that plays a leading role in Chinese culture.

Victoria Rybchan, a 3rd-year student, drew the attention of the audience to the legend of the warrior girl Mulan, known to everyone from the children’s cartoon and the Disney film. Alina Nazarenko introduced the club members to the legend of the First Emperor of Japan, and also told a heavenly love story. Yesakova Svitlana, a 4th year student, presented a report on the topic “Gods and Heroes of Chinese Mythology”.

At the end of the meeting, an open vote was held, based on the results of which the topic of the next meeting was chosen – the literature of the countries of the Far East. We invite everyone who wants to join our friendly team.
