Oleg Sharov’s visit to Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University

On September 13, a meeting of the Academic Council and the Rectorate of LTSNU took place with Oleg Sharov, General Director of the Directorate of Vocational Pre-Higher and Higher Education of the MES of Ukraine.
Oleg Sharov visited the city of Lubny, the oldest city in the Poltava region, founded by the Grand Duke Volodymyr of Kyiv in 988 in honor of the adoption of Christianity. It was here in 2022 that Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University was located in the conditions of the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the second movement from Luhansk to Poltava region (the cities of Poltava, Lubny, Myrhorod).
In the historical premises of Lubny Secondary School No. 10, where the university currently operates, the guest of honor was met by Lubny Mayor Oleksandr Hrytsaenko, Head of the Department of Education of the Lubny City Council Myroslav Kostenko, Chairman of the Academic Council of the University Vitalii Kurylo, University Rector Olena Karaman. The participants of the meeting discussed the state and prospects of the development of the university in the Lubny region, the social effect of the synergy of the potentials of the community and the university.
Oleg Sharov visited classrooms, administrative premises; talked with teachers, students, employees; congratulated everyone on the new academic year, wished success in studies, personal and professional development.
During the official meeting with members of the Academic Council and rectorate of LTSNU, Oleg Sharov presented the report “Systemic-structural transformation of higher education: war, post-war recovery, Euro-Atlantic integration”, which was based on the identification of priorities and key tasks for the development of education in Ukraine as during the war, as well as post-war recovery.
The discussion of new legislative initiatives regarding individual educational trajectories, the national system of qualifications, prerequisites for the modernization of the network of higher education institutions, budget financing of education, etc., became extremely important for the university staff. It was on these topical topics that questions from teachers and students were raised, to which Oleg Sharov provided answers and invited further discussion.
At the end of the meeting, Vitalii Kurylo and Olena Karaman thanked Oleg Sharov and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine for their support and constant support in the organization of the educational process and admissions campaigns under martial law. In order to commemorate the meeting, the guest was presented with a portrait of Taras Shevchenko, whose name the university has borne since 1939.
