Entrance exam to the postgraduate course in mathematics

On September 8, the Department of Algebra and System Analysis held an entrance exam for postgraduate study for candidates for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the specialty 111 “Mathematics”.
For the first time, two entrants took the entrance exam for studies under the budgetary form of study in specialty 111 “Mathematics”. The meeting was held online, with the full examination committee. Anatolii Zhuchok, the head of the commission, made an opening speech and wished success to the winners. Next, applicants chose examination tickets, each of which contained three questions. One and a half hours were given for preparation, during which the entrants were in constant communication.
The first to speak was Oleksandra Sporykhina with ticket number “1”, who, after voicing the main answers, also answered additional questions from the members of the commission: Yurii Zhuchok and Olena Toichkina. A student Violetta Gurchonok answered all the questions of the ticket with the number “7”, and also received a number of additional questions and clarifications.
Based on the results of the discussion, the members of the examination commission gave the following grades: Oleksandra Sporykhina – 80 points, Violetta Gurchonok – 90 points. Future postgraduate students demonstrated a high level of theoretical and practical training in mathematics, as well as readiness to master new heights in science.
