International internship
6.9.2023
From June 2022 to July 2023, the Assistant Professor of the Department of Production Technologies and Professional Education Maryna Lutsenko completed a scientific internship in the LiBiFOOD research group.
The internship took place at the Department of Nutrition, Food Sciences and Gastronomy, Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences of the University of Barcelona. This opportunity was given to scientists from Ukraine who were in the territory of the European Union due to the war.
The research laboratory at the University of Barcelona is engaged in establishing the influence of feed components on the quality of chicken meat (taste, protein-fat composition, color, consistency during storage, etc.) and on chicken eggs. The laboratory cooperates with the large enterprise bonArea, which has facilities for the production of food products and an extensive network of stores.
During the internship, Maryna Vasylivna provided support for several analytical studies mainly in fats and meat, such as the composition of fatty acids and tocopherol, as well as the determination of thiobarbituric acid, participated in various stages of sample preparation and extraction (fat extraction, saponification, purification and concentration). She also gained experience working with modern chromatographs, laboratory equipment for determining the composition of meat and egg proteins.
In addition to working in the laboratory, Maryna Vasylivna was present as a teacher at the classes of students studying “Food Technologies”.
Such a scientific internship in the European Union provides an opportunity to gain new research experience, communication between professors, doctors of philosophy, students and postgraduate students who have the opportunity to participate in Erasmus + exchange programs.
Thus, while working at the University of Barcelona, Marina Lutsenko prepared an application for a postdoctoral program at the Italian University of Brescia. According to the results of the work, the article PRODUCTION OF DRY EDIBLE LECITHIN FROM SUNFLOWER OIL REFINING AGRI-WASTE was prepared for publication in the scientific journals included in the Scopus database. Now it is at the review stage.
We wish Maryna Vasylivna further success in her research work!
