New academic year

The new 2023-2024 academic year has started at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

The first of September is the Knowledge Day. Someone will continue to acquire knowledge within the walls of our university, and someone will cross its threshold for the first time.

The beginning of another academic year in the conditions of a full-scale Russian invasion, so we are all forced to adapt to these realities. Be that as it may, the main thing is that the academic year has started!

Today, first-year students who became students of a powerful, progressive and innovative University as an educational, scientific and cultural center of Ukraine and Europe visited Luhansk  Taras Shevchenko National University for the first time.

Due to the prohibition of mass events in connection with the increase of enemy shelling, we refused mass ceremonial events, but the first solemn acquaintance with new students took place both in person and online.

The meeting began with a congratulatory speech to the students by the head of the Academic Council of the University Vitalii KURYLO, who wished them success in their studies, discoveries and new achievements. “For the first time in the recent history of our country, young people are becoming students under martial law. Let’s remember that we can start the educational process thanks to our colleagues, thanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which are currently defending Ukraine’s independence from the Russian aggressor. Victory will be ours!”, Vitalii Semenovych emphasized.

The Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Olena KARAMAN addressed the students with best wishes. She briefly spoke about the University itself and its structural subdivisions and specialties. She congratulated the young people on entering one of the most glorious higher education institutions in Ukraine with a 102-year history.

“Dear first-year students, you have become part of the University with powerful scientific departments, educational programs of the European level and with a unique academic atmosphere of openness to progressive and promising achievements in science and education. Luhansk University was and is open to the world. Talented and creative youth are always treated with respect here, who will be able to reveal their full potential at the University, demonstrating their uniqueness and individuality,” emphasized Olena KARAMAN.

The Knowledge Day is always a particularly solemn and exciting day, which was richly and emotionally spent in a positive atmosphere. It is from him that the unexplored path to new knowledge, acquaintances and opportunities will begin. The beginning of studies is a symbol of the fact that Ukraine will win!
